Krishna Jeyanthi or Janmashtami day is celebrated as it’s the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The day is picked according to Hindu luni-solar calendar on the eighth day of Ashtami in the month of Bhadon.

Lord Krishna is considered one of the most powerful human incarnations of Vishnu. He was born in Mathura around 5,200 years ago. The festival celebrated with great devotion where people decorate their temples, homes and even their localities.
